Public Interest Group Registration Application

This application is used to request registration of a Discord-based Public Interest Group (PIG). Submissions should be accurate, complete, and made in good faith.

Important: ClearCause does not verify legitimacy, does not regulate conduct, and does not handle funds. Registration creates a transparency record — not an endorsement.

Notice: Some answers improve your public profile and help reviewers assess reports more quickly. Providing detail may reduce delays and follow-up questions.

1) Discord Server Identification

Provide the official Discord server identifiers. These are used to create the application record and support basic verification.

Tip: Enable Developer Mode in Discord to copy Server ID.

Provide a permanent invite link to the server (required for registration).

A permanent invite helps reviewers confirm the server exists and reduces delays during review.

2) Server Owner (Responsible Person)

The owner is the accountable contact for this application and for compliance communications. Gmail accounts only are accepted for official communications at this time.

3) Trustees (Minimum 3 Required)

Trustees provide oversight of the group’s operations. Listing Trustees demonstrates accountability and improves the credibility of the registry record. You must provide at least three (3). Gmail accounts only are accepted for trustee contact emails at this time.

Completing this section thoroughly can help your group stand out in the public registry and may make it easier to dismiss bad-faith reports.

4) Group Purpose, Policies, and Governance

This section forms the core of your public profile. Provide enough detail that a member of the public can understand what your group does, and how it operates in practice.

A clear purpose statement makes your listing stronger and helps reviewers evaluate whether complaints match your stated mission.

What are your primary activities (e.g., education, roleplay, security, coding, research, community coordination)? Please provide a copy of your server guidelines (rules) here.

Publishing clear rules can reduce misunderstandings and may help resolve or dismiss reports that conflict with your stated standards.

How do you moderate your server in practice?

Strong moderation detail makes your group appear more credible and helps reviewers assess abuse or manipulation complaints quickly.

Does your server operate its own Discord bot? Do you have a conflict of interest policy for the Owner and Trustees? If yes, provide it or describe it.

Including governance safeguards can make your group stand out and improves public confidence in oversight.

How are decisions made within the group (e.g., owner-led, trustee vote, consensus, formal roles)? If the Owner becomes unavailable, who is responsible for continuity and compliance communications?

Succession planning reduces operational risk and helps avoid compliance issues caused by inactivity or lost access.

Approximately how many active members participate monthly? How often do you run organized events or activities? What is your geographic scope (local, national, international, online-only)? What is your data retention policy (e.g., logs, reports, bot data, member records)? Include timeframes. Is two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled for the Owner and any operational accounts (including bot accounts)? How does your group handle misconduct, fraud, or rule violations (including escalation and appeals)?

This can make it easier to dismiss vague or bad-faith reports if you can point to documented processes.

Do you use any external audits, third-party reviews, or independent oversight? If yes, explain. What positive impact does your group provide to members or the wider public? Are you affiliated with any other organizations, networks, or partnered communities? If yes, list them.

5) Financial Disclosure

ClearCause does not handle funds and does not audit finances. If your group involves real-world funds or assets, disclosure supports transparency and helps reviewers assess reports involving misuse or misrepresentation.
