Register a Public Interest Group

This page outlines the requirements, obligations, and conditions associated with registering a Discord-based Public Interest Group with the ClearCause Registry.

Important Notice: Registration creates a permanent public record. Submissions must be accurate, current, and made in good faith.

Eligibility Requirements

A group may be registered if it:

  • Operates primarily through a Discord server
  • Represents itself as operating for the benefit of others or the wider public
  • Has an identifiable owner or responsible administrator
  • Agrees to comply with ClearCause transparency and reporting standards

ClearCause does not evaluate the legitimacy, effectiveness, or merit of a group’s activities.

Scope of Public Interest Activities

Public Interest Groups may include, but are not limited to:

  • Education and learning communities
  • Roleplay, simulation, or structured collaborative environments
  • Security, safety, moderation, or incident response
  • Software development, coding, or technical collaboration
  • Research, analysis, or knowledge-sharing
  • Community coordination or public-facing services

Inclusion in the registry does not imply endorsement or approval.

Information Required for Registration

  • Discord server name
  • Discord server ID
  • Name and contact details of the owner or responsible administrator
  • Public description of the group’s stated purpose
  • Disclosure of whether real money, donations, or assets are involved (outside ClearCause)

Most submitted information is displayed publicly as part of the registry. Limited contact details are retained for administrative communication only.

Ongoing Reporting Obligations

Registered groups are required to submit a monthly activity report.

  • Summary of activities during the reporting period
  • Events, initiatives, or campaigns conducted
  • Basic analytics (membership or engagement trends)
  • Optional financial summaries (reported as ranges only, if applicable)

ClearCause does not audit finances and does not handle funds.

Compliance and Status System

Compliance is tracked based on timely and complete reporting. Failure to meet requirements may result in a status change.

  • 🟢 Active — reporting requirements met
  • 🟡 Under Review — reports or concerns under review
  • 🟠 Non-Compliant — missing or late reports
  • 🔴 Suspended — temporarily removed from the registry
  • Revoked — registration permanently removed

Status changes are publicly visible in the registry.

Account Requirement

A verified ClearCause account is required to submit a registration application. This enables:

  • Status updates and compliance reminders
  • Notifications regarding reports or reviews
  • A verifiable audit trail for submissions
